no audio device available

no audio device available

Hi I just installed the windows vista upgrade, but I have some troubles, Im working with a Hp L2000 laptop, but I cant hear any audio, when I click on the speaker icon I get a message "NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE IS INSTALLED" can somebody help me with this problem??? Thanks

Hi, I had a similar problem with the onboard SigmaTel sound on my Dell desktop, you will need to find out which sound card you have and manually find the drivers for vista.
if there are no vista drivers available, you may be able to use XP drivers....
on the 64 bit Vista i used the 64-Bit XP drivers to get my sound going, it may work for yours too...

You could open the owner's manual and see if it gives any technical specifications there. If not in the owner's manual, next you could try typing www.hp.com and see what information is available on the HP web site.
Or, you could just whine and ask "how can i find wich sound card do i have?"
Use a little initiative! Put those little gray cells that prevent your skull from collapsing to work. It really doesn't hurt when you utilize those little gray cells and try to figure things out!

Try the HP Website, search your model number and you may find the correct drivers there, alternatively look at the specification and try to google the manufacturers website.

I had this problem too. I don't know if you are using 64bit or x86, but I installed a clean version of x86 (despite the fact I have an AMD64). Anyway, I fixed the problem by uninstalling Vista and reloading XP. Then, instead of a clean Vista install, I did an upgrade to Vista. Now I have sound, but the driver for the CPU is funky. Windows sees my chip is 944MB instead of 2GB. The display flickers at times too, but it all works. YEAH!!!
Overall I am quite pleased with the shape this OS is in for a beta. It's been worth the wait.
